LinguaPro/SPANISH™ is probably the most complete Spanish teaching system available for leading a student from the very beginnings to a high level of mastery of the Spanish language and its literature. It offers an enormous amount of material which can provide several years of study, and it is primarily aimed at students of Spanish in high school or college -- or dedicated adults who have already acquired knowledge of Spanish pronunciation.

There are two major things to make clear at the outset: (1) LinguaPro/SPANISH is a DOS program which runs well under all Windows operating systems, and (2) it it NOT an audiovisual or multimedia experience.

Although it is NOT a Windows program, it runs very well under Windows. It thus does not use a mouse, but rather a set of 1- or 2-letter commands and function keys in the traditional DOS manner. This kind of interface may take a bit longer to learn, but once learned the operation of the program is extremely easy and flexible.

Why doesn't LinguaPro provide an audiovisual (multimedia) interface? LinguaPro does not offer sound recordings, nor movies; there are dozens of inexpensive commercial programs which do provide this kind of interface, and rather than compete with them LinguaPro will take you onwards when these programs run out of material. Although we provide instruction in the basics of Spanish pronunciation, we really assume that the student already has learned the basics of a good pronunciation. For that reason LinguaPro provides a textual interface which is well-suited to absorbing an enormous vocabulary, learning Spanish grammar and verb conjugations, and reading original Spanish prose and poetry.
